The
Consumer Energy Council of America (CECA) is the senior
public interest organization in the U.S. focusing on
the energy, telecommunications and other network industries
that provide essential services to consumers. With a
focus on exploring the areas of common interest and
narrowing the differences among stakeholders, CECA has
developed a nationally recognized consensus-building
process for resolving complex and contentious issues.
What
Does CECA Do?
- CECA
convenes forums
on major and often contentious issues related to the
network industries. These forums, usually lasting
between six and twelve months, bring together the
major stakeholders - utility and energy industry executives,
members of Congress, officials of DOE and other federal
agencies, state public utility commissioners, residential
and small business users, scientists and academics,
consumer advocates, and environmental leaders - to
discuss issues and make recommendations for policy
in the public interest.
- CECA
develops reports
on these highly important issues. For nearly thirty
years, CECA's projects and reports have been on the
cutting edge of public polices that affect consumers
and small businesses.
- CECA
provides essential information
for consumers to make informed decisions regarding
fuel choices, energy conservation, and new legislative
and regulatory developments.
Through
consensus-building, outreach, advocacy, and cutting-edge
research, CECA is the foremost energy authority working
on behalf of consumers in promoting sensible and responsible
public policy.
DE
Forum
The
DE Forum Website is a comprehensive Internet-based
resource for Distributed Energy information and a tool
to assist users in the screening of DE technologies.
This site is provided as a service to energy consumers
and producers worldwide. The CECA sponsors the
DE Forum report and Website.
CECA
is a leader in promoting the understanding of DE and
the issues surrounding its adoption.
The
launch of this site follows CECA's year long Distributed
Energy Domestic Policy Forum, where leaders in energy
policy and technology created a vision for the role
of distributed energy (DE) in society. The culmination
of that effort is the report titled "Distributed
Energy: Towards a 21st Century Infrastructure".
As an organization dedicated to identifying and promoting
policy initiatives that benefit consumers, CECA convened
the Forum as a meeting place for diverse views of state
and federal government, industry, utilities, non-governmental
organizations, consumers, and environmentalists. As
an outcome of these discussions, CECA is convinced that
many, if not all, of the benefits described in this
site can be realized in the years ahead through coordinated
government, private sector, and utility action.
